The Calling Oak is the name given to Rowney Green’s Monthly Village Newsletter, created and edited within the village and delivered free of charge to each household – all of which is done by volunteers.
The much-loved publication contains information about Rowney Green Village bookings and Social Activity, Neighbourhood Watch updates, key Personnel Contact Details plus Editorial Comment.
It is now also available on-line, where you can find the current edition and contact the editor. In addition there is a back catalogue going back to 2012
The ancient oak, after which it is named, still grows alongside Rowney Green Lane.
Historically it was the place in the village where announcements were made, its position coincides with the line of the historic hedgerow which formed the boundary of the Alvechurch Bishop’s Palace Deer Park.
